The JCS School of Etiquette & Protocol is pleased to offer a selection of courses in social, business, and proper dining etiquette.
Lessons are available in both private and group settings. Courses taught in a group setting are held in a lovely Country Club, hotel, home, or business location. Contact Joan if you would like to make arrangements for a custom-tailored course. Joan is willing to travel outside the Fresno area.

Course (Adults)
Foundational Etiquette Skills
This course is all about marketing you and raising your level of confidence…what is YOUR brand? This is our basic course, which Joan recommends for every adult. It serves to train those who are unfamiliar with—or need a brush-up course in—proper self-presentation and dining skills.
Self-Presentation Skills
Your presentation skills can make or break how you are perceived by others. We want to make a positive impression and be ready for the opportunity to build relationships. We certainly do not want to fake who we are—we want to be positively authentic!
With knowledge and practice, our behaviors and use of etiquette become natural and invite a desired impression from others. In this session, we’ll cover:

Dining Skills
Sharing a meal together builds relationship!
Like it or not, we are noticed and judged by our table manners. This course is designed for you to learn the skills you need to make a favorable impression.
Knowledge is power. By knowing these essential skills, you will become more at ease and confident when interacting with guests around the dining table. Course content includes:
- The Invitation/RSVP
- Table Etiquette
- Reading the Table
- Appropriate Seating Arrangements
- American Style Eating
- Continental Style Eating
- Dinner Conversation
- Awkward Situations
- The Silent Code
- The Thank You

Course Description: Foundational Etiquette Skills (includes Self Presentation Skills session + Dining Skills session.
Course Length: 5 hours (one day)
Cost: $350/person. Includes a four-course meal, with tutoring.
Build Your Own Group: Class size must be a minimum of eight people.
Schedule: We will make every effort to accommodate your desired meeting time.

Foundational Etiquette Skills
Classes are designed for:
- 3rd-6th grade
- 7th-9th grade
- 10th-12th grade
Social skills tell us how to act at school, parties, home, and in the community. Social skills can be learned and will change a child’s self-esteem and self-confidence for the better! Topics are selected from each of the menus below:
Self Presentation Skills for Youth
Why is it so easy for some young people to make friends and it’s a challenge for others? As a child matures they find themselves in social situations that are uncomfortable, because they lack experience and feel awkward.
The remedy to both situations lies in the child’s ability to develop relationships and maneuver through new situations with ease and comfort—children do this by learning proper social skills.
In our session, we’ll cover:

Dining Skills for Youth

When dining out or being invited to a friend’s home, a child’s manners are noticed. Also, admiration goes toward the parents who have recognized the importance of their children using good manners.

Party Manners for Youth
The topics taught in our course include:
- Accepting the invitation/RSVP
- What to Wear
- Gift or no gift?
- Greeting parents
- House manners
- The goodbye
- The thank you note
Course Length: 4 hours (one day) 9 AM – 1PM
Cost: $275/student
Includes: A four-course dining experience, with tutoring.
Build Your Own Group: Class size must be a minimum of 8 children.
Schedule: Saturdays, or during school vacation periods.
Couples Course
Hospitality Skills for Couples
This class is for couples who are interested in mastering the art of being a charming, caring, wonderful host and hostess, while entertaining at home, or at a restaurant.
Supporting Social and Business Goals as Couple
Be the dynamic couple who together makes a positive impression as guests or host/hostess. There is magic when a couple’s partnership supports one another and their reason for having the event!

The JCS School of Etiquette & Protocol will custom design a Professional Power Hour for your staff.
